Virtual Paint Night - Marine Life
Time & Location
About The Event
This Paint Night will be taught virtually. While my previous Virtual Paint Nights were done through Facebook Live, this will be a more interactive class taught through Zoom, a video conferencing service. This will allow me to view participants and their work and give better, personalized instruction.
Materials for this class:
I'll be using a 12"x12" canvas. This painting can really be done on any shape and size! Use what you have or can find readily.
- Small round brush or detail brush
The silhouette details in black would be easiest with a finer, pointed brush. The size can be anywhere between a size 2 and a 10 - the important thing is that the brush comes to a point.
- Medium flat or bright brush
I'll be using a size 12. Use a smaller brush if your canvas will be smaller than mine (larger if larger). Don't over think it! This is to cover larger areas, so exact size and shape are not as important.
- Acrylic paint
You'll want for sure white, blue, and black. It's best if you have two shades of blue (darker and lighter, or even more of a true-blue and green-blue).
You'll want an apron or old shirt as acrylics do not wash from clothes easily. It may be a good idea to cover your table too! You'll want a cup with water for rinsing your brushes, a palette for paints (paper plates or old container lids work well) and a few paper towels handy. Also, glitter would be a fun addition to this ocean painting!
You are responsible for obtaining your own supplies! I will have kits available for pick up, so add a Paint Night Kit if you would like to pick up all the materials for this class from my porch. They will be available for pick up at least a day before the event, but I will send out a text if they are ready earlier.
This is a kids painting event! You are welcome to join your child (remember to get yourself a kit if you're joining in!) for free, but please don't paint without your children. The purpose is to allow kids a safe place to learn techniques and express their creativity without a large number of adults. While we are all painting from the comfort of our own homes, all participants will be able to see me and other painters. Your child is welcome to keep their camera off if they prefer not to be seen by the other students as they paint.
Additional children in your household can also paint along for free (remember to get them a kit too if they need it!)! Please don't go crazy and invite all their friends over - I really try to interact with everyone who needs it, so 5+ people in one video might be distracting, for myself and other painters.
